Matt hamill 1It is official, as compensation for the absence of the much-anticipated Rashad Evans vs. Rampage Jackson contest; the UFC deems it fit to supplement the vacant TUF 10 co-headlining spot with Jon “Bones” Jones against the always-game Matt Hamill.

Hamill (7-2), who is Tuf series alum, is currently riding a two fight-winning streak with both by way of knockout. The Former Olympic wrester’s only two defeats came via TKO by a kick to the liver from former UFC middleweight champ Rich Franklin with 0:39 left in the 3rd round, and the other being a controversial decision loss to TUF 3 winner Micheal Bisping. Although Hamill is widely recognized for his wrestling pedigree, it is his ox-like strength that has gained him notoriety within the MMA community as being a knockout artist.

Jones on the other hand is currently on cloud 9, after going the distance to defeat Tuf season 1 alumni Stephan Bonnar, in a career defining moment for the young fighter. The then followed up his Bonnar performance with an impressive guillotine choke midway through the 2nd round over heavyweight mainstay Jake O’Brien.

In order for Jones to get the most out of his unorthodox style and untapped potential; Jones recently relocated his camp to New Mexico in order to be under to tutelage of Greg Jackson and his “Band of Brothers” infantry. This decision will definitely be put to the test against the Team Punishment member Matt Hamill, as he will certainly prove to be Jones stiffest test-to-date.

The current Dec. 5th card includes, but may be subject to change:

Finalist No. 1 vs. Finalist No. 2

Matt Hamill vs. Jon Jones

Frankie Edgar vs. Kurt Pellegrino

Dennis Hallman vs. John Howard

Mark Bocek vs. Matt Veach

Lucio Linhares vs. Rousimar Palhares
