Q&A with Miller and Werdum
Posted by Matt Giancarlo on the 6 November 2009 | No Comments
I recently had an opportunity to sit and discuss what both Miller and Werdum believe they can and will expose about their upcoming opponents and here is what they had to say:
Jason Miller
Q: What do you think that you can expose out of Jake Shields that others have not in his previous fights?
A: "There's no mystery and no secret here. He likes to get guys to the ground, and try and hump them into submission. That's not gonna happen. I'm not gonna allow him to do that, I'm gonna make him fight at my pace - a rapid fire, non stop, aggressive pace. He's not gonna be able to hang, he's gonna get tired, and when he does I'm gonna capitalize.
Q: You went to the distance with Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, a world class Jiu Jitsu fighter. How do you feel that has helped you prepare for another submission artist such as Jake Shields?
A: "In that fight, I had to toughen a lot of things out. That was a great fight to teach me things about weathering a storm. That particular fight, I never succeeded but I don't think I was training nearly as hard enough."
Fabricio Werdum:
Q: How do you plan to deal with the size of Antonio Silva?
A: "I have faced people the same height, and trained with people just as big as him."
Q: What are your thoughts on the rest of the Strikeforce dvision, and without looking past Silva, is there anybody specific that you would like to fight?
A: "The Strikeforce heavyweight division is full of a lot of great fighters. I would like an opportunity to fight Fedor Emelianenko after my upcoming fight."
Q: How do you see this fight ending come Saturday?
A: "I plan on winning on Saturday by either submission or knockout."
Q: Can you give a prediction on the main event?
A: "First round - Fedor by knockout"Leave a Comment
