Teleconference: Jake Shields & Jason "Mayhem" Miller

Posted by Deshalen Barber on the 14 October 2009 | View Comments

mayhem millerToday Strikeforce held a conference call featuring the CEO Scott Coker, and the two middleweight title hopefuls: Jake Shields (23-4-1) and Jason “Mayhem” Miller (22-6).

Shields who was business as usual during the call, believes this to be “the biggest fight of my life”. Deservingly so, as the CBS network has been picking up steam with marking the stacked card during commercial breaks of NFL and College Football games.

In what is now a highly competitive middleweight division, the soon-to-be champ will be looking forward to defending his title at the least twice next year, according to Coker.

Which Miller—host of MTV’s: Bully Beatdown—claims that is simply not enough, “I say every weekend on Bully Beatdown, and if the average joe can beat me, then they’re champion”. To reel the respective journalist question back to reality of how many times both fighters would like to defend the belt, Shields took a more simplistic approach “I like to fight often, so twice a year is the bare minimum.”

This future card is promised to bring something that the previous two CBS MMA fights cards under EliteXC was not: A legit MMA heavyweight main event, and the proper marketing strategy to showcase their array of world-class fighters.

The always Charismatic Mayhem Miller jokingly had a person message for any sponsors looking to endorse their company/brand/or personal name, “I will put your name on my shorts for maybe, uh, 75 bucks”

So mark your calendars for Saturday, November 7th at 9pm on CBS Television Network, as the much-anticipated arrival of “The Last Emperor” Fedor Emelianenko will grace our presence for the first time inside the steel cage against the heavy handed knock out artist that is Bret “The Grim” Rogers.
