Ufc 105

UfC105This weekend marks the midway point. As we the viewers are treated to the 3rd of five mixed martial arts event’s being held during the month of November. To top it off, the third installment of this series like the previous two will be free. This Saturday is featuring UFC 105 “Couture vs. Vera,” which airs live on Spike TV from the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England.

This card can be argued to be an extension of the TUF series, with many of the European contestants getting the nod to compete in their homeland. In order to ensure that the fans will have some to cheer for in every contest building up to the main-event, the UFC brass have made several addition’s to ensure a stalemate between the Brit’s and Americans.

The card will feature UK’s very own poster child and TUF winner Micheal Bisping, who is looking to bounce back from a devastating TKO loss to Dan Henderson earlier this year. He will begin his hopeful ascend back to the top against mma journey-man Denis Kang, who too is looking to solidified his worth to the UFC front office with a win in Bisping’s backyard.

The contest that has heavy “fight of the night” implications will be the showdown between Mike Swick and Dan Hardy.  Swick, who feels he should be next in line for a shot at welterweight kingpin GSP, considers this bout to be a waste of his time. He has gone so far as to make it publicly known that Hardy is a merely a step up from his relatively un-known Team Rough House gym mate, Paul Daley. The only problem with this plan is UK’s outlaw; Dan Hardy is riding a six fight-winning streak with the most recent three coming during his UFC tenure. This young gun has made it a personal quest to not only get under the skin of Swick, but also during the process, completely discredit the prestige of AKA’s fighters and the academy alike. Before the start of the third round someone is sure to have his brain more rattled than moth’s lurking around a street light.

The evening’s main card will feature a contest of young lion against old lion. Much like Couture, Vera has successfully straddled the lines of heavyweight and light heavyweight. So the two men eventually meeting was destined for a UFC card sooner or later. On top of their inevitable clash, the bout can also be seen as a passing of the guard, since both fighters carry similar fighting attributes and in-ring generalship. Vera perceives this match as both an honor and a platform to not only restart his rocky career but also be able to emulate the accolades Couture has acquired thus far. Meanwhile, Randy, who intends to mirror boxing great George Foreman, is looking for the opportunity to not only compete but also earn his championship belt back. In order to fulfill this dream, randy has to start this chapter of his epic tale from the bottom and work his way back to the top.
